GPS Bus Locator
NY Waterway recently rolled out a unique GPS Bus Locator system on all smartphones, iPads, Microsoft OS, Motorola OS and computers that makes ferry and bus commuting even easier! The service, also available by calling 1-877-53-BUSES, provides real-time access on the location and status of free shuttle buses serving NY Waterway’s West 39th Street Ferry Terminal and will be available at www.nywaterway.com/GPS.
As part of the ongoing efforts to offer the most convenient commute possible, the Bus Locator allows NY Waterway riders to track how close a bus is to their current location. Five continuously updated maps of New York City, with highlighted streets signifying a specific bus route, use large arrows to indicate the location of a bus and in which direction it is heading. With buses running regularly throughout the day, the real-time maps take the guess-work out of traveling.
The free buses depart from NY Waterway’s terminal at 39th Street and the Hudson River on popular routes throughout Manhattan, including 57th Street, 49th/50 Streets, 42nd Street, and 34th Street, and a special Downtown loop, making them the best choice for commuters or tourists. The buses can be caught at any NYC bus stop on their route and their distinctive red, white and blue exterior makes them easy to spot. The extremely convenient Bus Locator system soon will be available for tracking NY Waterway bus service in New Jersey as well.
NY Waterway – which continues to be the most hassle-free way to travel between New Jersey and New York – is the only area ferry service offering free land transportation on both sides of the Hudson River. Ferries operate Monday through Friday from all terminals, with select locations providing additional weekend service. NY Waterway also operates a number of permanent and seasonal sightseeing tours around Manhattan, including the Skyline Cruise and the New York Historical Cruise.
