NY Waterway is Once Again Honored to Provide "FREE" Commuter Ferry Service to all Military Personnel!

Service men and women must present ID showing their active duty or veteran status to ride free on all NY Waterway commuter ferry routes.

Fleet Weeks a great time to take the family on the "ferry" to NYC to see and honor:

The Thousands of Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen from U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard ships will be in Manhattan for Fleet Week New York.  Hosted nearly every year since 1984, Fleet Week New York is the City's celebration of the sea services. This annual event also provides an opportunity for the citizens of New York City and the surrounding Tri-State area to meet Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen, as well as witness first hand the latest capabilities of today's Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard Team. Fleet Week includes dozens of military demonstrations and displays throughout the week, as well as public visitation of many of the participating ships.

  

What Is There To Do During Fleet Week?:

  • Tour visiting ships
  • lectures
  • watch the parade of ships in the harbor
  • watch competitions, including tug of war and eating contests
  • Memorial Day ceremony
  • musical performances by sailors and marines

  • Fleet Week New York Parade of Ships
    New York Harbor
    9:00 am – 11:00 am
    Join in the festivities as U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard ships arrive in the New York Harbor.
  • New York Mets at Citi Field
    Citi Field, Cushing, New York
    7:10 pm – 10:00 pm
    New York Mets will take on the Los Angeles Dodgers. A service member will be participate in the New York Mets “Veteran of the Game” program throughout the week.

  • General public ship tours begin
    8:00 am – 5:00 pm
    Lines may be capped at 3:00 pm
    Ship tours will be held during the week at Pier 92 in Manhattan and The Sullivans Pier in Staten Island. Tours will be conducted daily.
  • USO Bike Build
    10:00 am – 2:00 pm
    Pier 92, Manhattan, New York
    USO, along with volunteers, will build bikes. Bikes will be assembled and given to service members participating in Fleet Week New York for their children.
  • U.S. Navy Aerial Demonstration
    10:00 am – noon
    Westbury High School, Old Westbury, New York
    Aerial demonstration to take place at Westbury High School in Old Westbury, New York. Navy Band Northeast “Rhode Island Sound” will be performing live.Not Open To General Public.
  • U.S. Coast Guard Search and Rescue Demonstration
    Noon – 12:30 pm
    Coney Island Boardwalk, Brooklyn, New York
    U.S. Coast Guard will conduct a Search and Rescue demonstration in the water off the Coney Island Boardwalk for visitors to see. Event will also kick-off the opening weekend of the beaches at Coney Island.
  • USO/Pepsi Basketball Tournament
    4:00 pm – 9:00 pm
    John Jay College, Manhattan, New York
    USO, in partnership with Pepsi, will host a basketball tournament for participating units of Fleet Week and teams from New York City Police Department (NYPD), Fire Department City of New York (FDNY) and Port Authority Police Department (PAPD).
  • New York Mets at Citi Field
    Citi Field, Cushing, New York
    7:10 pm – 10:00 pm

  • Joint Re-enlistment and Promotion Ceremony

    9/11 Memorial Plaza, Manhattan, New York
    Joint re-enlistment and promotion ceremony will take place on the plaza at the 9/11 Memorial.
  • Military Band Concerts/U.S. Coast Guard Drill Team
    4:30 pm – 7:15 pm
    Herald Square, Manhattan, New York
    Navy Band Northeast Bands will perform a concert in Herald Square (Macy’s). U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Drill Team will perform. Line-up: USCG Drill Team – 4:30 pm 5 pm and 6:45-7:15 pm; Navy Band Northeast “Brass Band” – 5 pm-5:45 pm; Navy Band Northeast “Show Band” – 6 pm-6:45 pm

    U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Navy will display aviation and personnel equipment. U.S. Navy Band Northeast “Brass Band” will perform.
  • U.S. Coast Guard Search and Rescue Demonstration

    The Sullivans Pier, Staten Island, New York
    U.S. Coast Guard will conduct a Search and Rescue demonstration in the water off The Sullivans Pier for visitors to see.

    New York Mets and the USO of New York will host the annual Military Appreciation Day. Mets will take on the Pittsburgh Pirates. A service member will participate in the New York Mets “Veteran of the Game” program.
